Mr. Blindbandit is Kaeleb Heck, an American recording artist, producer, and content creator with Virginia roots and a home in the Philippines.
Blind since birth, he works with screen readers and accessible technology to create across ambient, cinematic, electronic, and hip-hop sounds. As founder of Blindbandit Records, he brings together independent music, video, and digital storytelling. Identity and early life Mr. Blindbandit is the professional name of Kaeleb Savon Heck, an American blind music creator and digital artist born on April 4, 2000, in Salem, Virginia, in the Roanoke Valley. Heck was born completely blind with Leber Congenital Amaurosis (LCA), an inherited retinal disorder. He uses screen readers, audio feedback, a white cane, memory, touch and spatial awareness to navigate technology and physical environments.
Education During childhood, Heck lived in Virginia and Florida, including periods in Daytona Beach, Palm Coast and New Smyrna Beach. From 2012 until early 2016, he attended the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind in St. Augustine, Florida, completing the eighth grade there before returning to Virginia. The school is historically associated with a number of notable blind and deaf alumni, including Ray Charles, who attended the institution as a child.

Relationship and independent travel In November 2018, Heck met Emma, a woman from the Philippines, online. Their relationship became romantic on July 7, 2019 and continued long-distance for several years. On August 21, 2024, Heck traveled alone from the United States to the Philippines, using airport assistance, screen-reader technology and independent travel skills across multiple international connections. He later described the experience in the first-person story 'I Didn't See the Philippines for the First Time. I Heard It.'
Life in the Philippines After arriving in Davao, Heck met Emma in person for the first time. He later traveled to Cebu City to complete marriage-related requirements as a U.S. citizen. Heck and Emma were married in Kapalong, Philippines, on October 8, 2024, in a ceremony officiated by the mayor.
