Copyright notice
Send a copyright notice for material on this service. Notices may be shared with the affected contributor as necessary for review.
What a complete notice includes
Under the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3)), a notice should include:
- A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act for them.
- Identification of the copyrighted work, or a representative list if several works are involved.
- The exact URL or location of the material you believe infringes.
- Your contact information: address, telephone number and email.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the owner, its agent or the law.
- A statement that the information is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act for the owner.
Before sending, consider whether the use might be licensed or a fair use. Knowingly false notices can create legal liability. If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake, the copyright and DMCA policy explains counter-notices. This page is general information, not legal advice.
Counter-notices
If material you posted was removed because of a notice, you may be able to send a counter-notice if you believe the removal was a mistake or misidentification. The copyright and DMCA policy describes what to include.
