Blindbandit Mobile: the official app and community of Mr. Blindbandit

Blindbandit Mobile is the community and communications side of mrblindbandit.net, the official website of Mr. Blindbandit (Kaeleb Savon Heck) and his independent label, Blindbandit Records. It comes in two forms that share one account: the web version on this page, which runs in any modern browser, and the native Mr. BlindBandit Mobile app for Android, available free on Google Play. Both are built by a blind artist who uses a screen reader every day, so accessibility is part of the design rather than an add-on.

This page explains what Blindbandit Mobile does, how to get it, how the main features work, and where to find the rules and privacy information before you sign up.

What it is for

Blindbandit Mobile brings the parts of the Mr. Blindbandit world that involve other people into one place. Listeners can follow the official artist profile, read and react to posts, and talk to each other. Members can message and call people they know on Blindbandit. Independent creators get practical music tools on their phone. It replaced the older fan board, so posts, profiles, messages and calls now live under one account.

You can read the public newsfeed without an account. Posting, commenting, following, messaging and calling need a free account.

How to get it

Android

The native app, Mr. BlindBandit Mobile, is free on Google Play and contains no ads. It needs Android 8 or newer. Get Mr. BlindBandit Mobile on Google Play.

iPhone

An iPhone version is being built from the same code base, but it is not available on the App Store yet. Until it is, iPhone users can use the web version of Blindbandit Mobile in Safari. This page will link to the App Store only once the app is actually live there.

Web

The web version runs at mrblindbandit.net/mobile/ with nothing to install. Use the tabs at the bottom of the screen: Feed, Messages, Profile, Settings and More.

Creating an account

Accounts use Clerk, the sign-in service used across mrblindbandit.net. You can sign up with Google or with an email address and a verification code. On iPhone, the app is designed to support Sign in with Apple. Blindbandit Mobile never asks for your password in a post or message, and signing up does not add you to any mailing list.

Feature walkthrough

Feed, posts and profiles

The newsfeed shows posts from the community, and you can filter it to music and release posts. Signed-in members can write posts, comment, react, follow people, save posts as bookmarks and keep unfinished posts as drafts. Short videos appear as BanditBites. When you share an image, you can add an image description so blind and low-vision members can take part.

Messages and calls

Direct messages and voice or video calls work between members on Blindbandit. Calls run on LiveKit, a real-time calling service. The app never stores a reusable calling key: after you sign in, the Blindbandit server checks your session and issues a short-lived pass for each call. The Android app supports camera-off video calls, speakerphone, echo cancellation and noise suppression. Every conversation has Report and Block options.

Notifications

The app can alert you to new messages and incoming calls through Google's (Android) or Apple's (iPhone) push service, but only if you allow notifications. Permissions such as the microphone, camera and notifications are requested when you first use the feature that needs them, not all at once at launch.

The Blindbandit Chronicle

The app includes a reader for The Blindbandit Chronicle, the stories published on this website. It loads the published story feed, shows each story with its title, date and summary, and opens the full story in a clean, readable view with real headings. Stories you have already loaded stay readable when you are offline, and every story can be shared or opened on the website.

Listen and Create

The Listen area links to Mr. Blindbandit's artist pages on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, Tidal, SoundCloud and Audiomack, and lets you pin the services you use most. The Create area is a toolkit for independent musicians, including a metronome, BPM tapper, session notes, setlist notes, a lyric scratchpad, a release checklist, loudness guidance, a cover-art size checker, a promo blurb helper and a royalty split calculator.

Accessibility

Kaeleb Heck was born blind with Leber Congenital Amaurosis (LCA) and produces his music with a screen reader, so the app is tested with screen readers as a release requirement.

If something blocks you, email accessibility@mrblindbandit.net. More detail is in the accessibility statement.

Safety and privacy

You can report a person, post or message and block anyone who bothers you. In the app, an offensive-language filter masks profanity and slurs in messages from other people; it is on by default and can be switched off in Settings. The app shows no ads and does not track you; when it opens mrblindbandit.net pages in its built-in browser it sends the Global Privacy Control signal, which keeps the website's advertising and analytics off inside the app. You can delete your account in Settings or request deletion at mrblindbandit.net/account.

Read these before you post: Trust & Safety, Community Guidelines, Mobile Privacy notice and Privacy Policy. To learn about badges, see profile verification; for the creator program, see creator monetization.

Frequently asked questions
