Sponsorship standards
Sponsorships are considered only when the product or service is something Mr. Blindbandit could honestly talk about, and when the partnership can be clearly disclosed. Assistive technology, accessible design, music tools and travel services are natural fits.
- All sponsored content is labelled as sponsored or paid, following the advertising and sponsorship disclosure.
- Reviews are honest; scripts that misrepresent a product are declined.
- Products or messages that would conflict with the site’s advertising disclosure or community guidelines are declined.
- Brand materials should be accessible: plain-text briefs, described images and captioned video.
Include the brand, campaign goal, deliverables, dates, audience and budget in your message. Nothing on this page creates a contract, a signing, a fee or an obligation to reply; any engagement needs a separate written agreement.
What a good sponsorship brief includes
- The brand and product, with a link.
- The goal of the campaign and the audience you want to reach.
- Exact deliverables: for example one post, a mention in a video, or a written review.
- Dates for drafts, approval and publication.
- The fee or value offered, and whether products are provided.
- Any usage rights you want over the content afterwards.
Clear briefs get clear answers. Vague requests, or requests to hide that content is sponsored, are declined.
Timing
Send sponsorship requests at least a few weeks before your campaign starts, so there is time to review the product, agree the brief and prepare accessible content. Rushed campaigns with no time for review are usually declined.
